Who is Lun*na Menoh?

“Who is Lun*na Menoh?” is a documentary film about the extraordinary Japanese Renaissance Artist, Lun*na Menoh, from her early career in Japan to the underground music scene in Los Angeles in early the 2000s, from fashion show runways featuring her sculptural fashion designs, to art galleries showing her fantastical work. Lun*na's edgy, witty and beautiful creations are all explored in the film.
This self-produced, passion project was created with director Jeff Mizushima (Etienne!, Sake-Bomb, and more) who followed Lun*na's artistic career, showcasing her uniquely individual expressionism, over the course of more than 12 years.
One little factoid is during production, he used about 50 different cameras.
For the film, Jeff interviewed past friends and collaborators like Anna Biller (Filmmaker), Robert Greene (Author), Ron Mael and Russell Mael from Sparks (Musicians), DJ Lance Rock (Nick Jr. Shows Yo Gabba Gabba!), Tosh Berman (Lun*na’s husband, Publisher, and son of Wallace Berman), her family, gallery curators, and many friends to find out who and what Lun*na Menoh is and why her art, in all its forms, fits in our world.
This film is unique and not presented in a traditional documentary format and has been selected for lots of great film festivals.
WHO IS LUN*NA MENOH? won the best documentary at the 39th CAAMFEST which is presented by The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), the nation's largest festival of Asian American stories.

Being meta can be a cliche nowadays. As boundaries of fact and fiction become more blurred in the Documentary Renaissance that we are currently living in, this film tests said boundaries, veering in left turns that may seem disingenuous, but in the end, is both a commentary and love letter to an artist who navigates and challenges the absurdity of the modern art scene, and always on her own terms. The jury is honored to announce the documentary award to WHO IS LUN*NA MENOH?
Also, Who is Lun*na Menoh? Has been selected for the following film festivals including the Silver award of Spotlight Documentary Film Awards, The best documentary Film of CAAMFEST, and The Third Place of Long-Professional Award of On Art Poland.
